Postgraduate training

Swiss Visio Network

The Swiss Visio Montchoisi's type-B centre and Swiss Visio La Providence's type-C centre specialise in the treatment of glaucoma and medical retina conditions, but also deal with all major ophthalmic disciplines, namely cataract, surgical retina conditions, cornea, inflammatory conditions, neuro-ophthalmology, refractive surgery and strabismus.

They also offer contact lens and orthoptics consultations, and an emergency service for ophthalmology and ophthalmic surgery. Furthermore, all doctors at our centres participate in the cantonal on-call programmes set up by the professional associations.

Swiss Visio Network has been operating a clinical research centre since 2016 which allows trainee clinical assistants and directors to play an active role in research programmes. This gives them the opportunity to publish articles in specialist journals. The majority of the research activities are carried out in collaboration with the EPFL (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne), the Hamilton Glaucoma Center at the University of California in San Diego (California, USA), the Research Center at the University of Denver (Colorado, USA), and industries linked to ophthalmology in Switzerland and around the world.

Swiss Visio is a network of ophthalmology centres offering state-of-the-art medical technology to treat all eye conditions (excluding eye cancer). It is part of the Swiss Medical Network and provides opportunities to train in the centres of the various cantons.

Background

Swiss Visio Network is a network of 16 ophthalmology centres at the cutting edge of medical technology which treats all eye conditions: glaucoma, cataract, cornea, medical and surgical retina conditions, uveitis, strabismus, neuro-ophthalmology, oculoplastics, refractive surgery, low vision and tear ducts. Our centres and offices offer consultations in medical and surgical ophthalmology and our teams ensure that our patients receive first-rate, tailored care by putting them first in everything they do.

The Swiss Visio network is part of the Swiss Medical Network group, which gives trainee doctors the opportunity to work with other experts in the field of ophthalmology where they are able to actively participate in specialised consultations and benefit from multiple areas of excellence and expertise.

Swiss Visio Montchoisi has been a certified training centre since 2009.

Collaboration

Swiss Visio Network maintains close links with the Vision for All foundation which works directly with and supports several hospitals in developing countries, primarily in India and Africa. This partnership enables our students to take part in the foundation’s programmes and to benefit from training course in both medical and surgical ophthalmology.
